• Chemical Immunity: Transmission fluid contains harsh detergents and additives, but PTFE is chemically inert—meaning the oil cannot corrode or weaken it.

Q: Can you tell the advantage of Glass-Filled PTFE ?

A: Pure, 100% white Teflon is very slippery, but it is also relatively soft. Under extreme hydraulic pressure inside a heavy-duty transmission, pure Teflon can slowly deform or "extrude" (squeeze out of its groove like toothpaste).

To prevent this, factory engineers blend in about 15% to 25% fiberglass filler into the plastic mix.

The Result: The fiberglass acts like rebar in concrete. A: No, it is not recommended. Once compressed, the material develops a permanent "compression set" and cannot conform to the mating surfaces again, even if it appears undamaged. Always install a new gasket during reassembly.
